Desert Mountain | Scottsdale

Boasting a phenomenal six, count ‘em, six, Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses encompassing 90 holes of world-class golf, Desert Mountain is definitely a golf aficionado’s nirvana. Sprawling across an extraordinary 8,000 acres of gorgeous high Sonoran real estate, Desert Mountain bills itself as “one of the finest private residential communities in the world” thanks to a wealth of luxurious custom homes and one-of-a-kind homesites – all of which showcase a sweeping panorama of views.

Of course, the signature amenity of Desert Mountain is its amazing sextuplet of championship courses (you do not need to be a Desert Mountain resident in order to obtain a golf membership, but you must own real estate inside the community).
In addition, the community is home to six uniquely stunning clubhouses and award-winning tennis facilities known as the “Wimbledon of the West.” The magnificent tennis accommodations include a stadium grass court, five clay courts and three hard courts. Desert Mountain is also host to a state-of-the-art Spa and Fitness Center featuring advanced exercise equipment, personal trainers and a busy roster of classes including spinning, kickboxing, yoga and more. The full-service Spa offers a sensational menu of first-rate services designed to help you relax and rejuvenate.

Each of the six top-tier courses provides golfers with a completely different golfing experience. Renegade, the first course, opened in 1987. Golf Digest once called the 7,443-yard Renegade "The most versatile course in the world." Players of all skill-levels enjoy Renegade because they can choose the set-up of tee and pin positions and hence, the degree of difficulty they would like to play. Featuring a double island green (shared by the par-3 seventh and the par-5 fifteenth), the 7,026-yard Cochise course requires precision shot-making and a great short game. Nicklaus has described Geronimo a "strong looking golf course,” and at 7,099 yards from the back tees, it is indeed an impressive sight as it winds through deep washes, ravines and boulder-strewn terrain. A perfect example of Geronimo’s intimidating shots is seen at the first hole, a 570-yard par five with a large elevation drop. Meanwhile, she’s certainly no pushover, but over at the 7,211-yard Apache course, more traditional golfers will appreciate her ample greens and grassy catch areas. The fifth course to open at Desert Mountain is the Chiricahua, the highest course on the property with elevation changes that range from 2,800 feet to over 3,600 feet. Keep your mind on your game though because her beauty might distract you from the need to skillfully place your tee shots. Outlaw, the sixth and final course, opened in 2003 and is located on a 176-acre site adjacent to the Tonto National Forest. Bring your best game to Outlaw and be sure to take a few minutes (or more...) to sit back and admire the course’s spectacular rolling hills and awe-inspiring views of Pinnacle Peak, the McDowell Mountains and Four Peaks.
